Follow-up of WP2 of the ACTIVAL project with a visit to M&M Group’s facilities in Tecnobahía

Within the framework of the CDTI PTAP program, last July 14, Chemplate Materials has maintained monitoring of WP2 of the ACTIVAL project (“Towards a more sustainable and competitive aviation through the implementation of active protection technologies and ultrasound-based sensors in aluminum aerostructures”) at Titania‘s facilities in Tecnobahía and took the opportunity to visit, together with CIDETEC Surface Engineering, the facilities of M&M Group to know, first hand, the work that our company has been developing in this project.

ACTIVAL is executed in consortium between Titania, Chemplate, M&M Group and Innerspec, in collaboration with R&D and technological centers and universities, such as CIDETEC, and its objective is to implement a complete coating process for aeronautical aluminum alloys that allows to prevent degradation processes on the surface and protect against corrosion processes, in an autonomous and monitorable way.

On this occasion, the meeting focused on reporting on the latest monitoring work carried out by Chemplate, which is developing a complex system of sensor technology and analytical data processing to continuously monitor the pretreatment process of aeronautical 2024 and 7075 parts, with the support of GDE. Later on, it has the potential to be implemented in downstream processes and in different surface treatment plants.

The Chemplate team was able to visit the Titania and M&M facilities on July 14, so that “we have understood the high level of manufacturing and study of the materials being developed in the project, both closely linked to the aeronautical industry and present in Tecnobahía, in Puerto de Santa María”, Chemplate pointed out. With the participation and support of CIDETEC in the meeting it has been possible to monitor in situ the subcontracted tasks and plan the following actions concerning the application of protective anaphoretic lacquer for aluminum.
