The general manager of MyM – Mecanizados y Montajes Aeronáuticos, Luis Pizarro (in the highlighted image next to the delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in Cádiz, Ana Mestre), has participated, last January 28th, in the I Business Breakfast organized by the Clúster Marítimo Naval de Cádiz, of which the company is a member. In this event, the Minister of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities of the Junta de Andalucía, Rogelio Velasco, has announced that his department will culminate in March the design of the Action Plan for the Value Chain of the Naval Sector, which will have an initial public allocation of 20 million for 2022.
According to Velasco, this instrument will carry out a diagnosis of the sector and will include a road map with proposals for action. Its promotion will be carried out in cooperation with the most representative economic and social agents and will also count on the collaboration of the maritime and naval cluster.
The measure is part of the Action Plan CRECE Industry 2021-2022, approved last year, which articulates the policy of the Board in this area and aims to differentiate Andalusia as an industrial region and promote its convergence with the national average in this activity. To this end, it covers 32 value chains of industrial goods and services, involving the main areas of industrial development in Andalusia.
Cadiz industrial development program
The Minister of Economic Transformation has also referred in his presentation to the industrial promotion program for the province of Cadiz for 2022, which was presented this week in the Governing Council and has a public contribution of more than 112 million euros distributed in eleven major actions. The Action Plan for the Value Chain of the Naval Sector is part of this program.
The purpose of this tool is to make profitable the connection of the different industrial ecosystems. On the one hand, the naval and aeronautical sector in the Bay of Cadiz, the construction sector in Jerez, Arcos, Rota, El Puerto de Santa Maria or Chiclana and, on the other hand, the refining, petrochemical, metallurgical, industrial gases or energy and port services sectors in the Campo de Gibraltar. All of them employ some 26,000 people and offer new development opportunities.
Among the eleven lines of work outlined in the program, in addition to the naval plan, there are other initiatives such as the opening of the Advanced Manufacturing Center, a strategic facility for aeronautics and naval activity and that “has been unblocked in this legislature after four years of paralysis,” said Velasco.
To this is added the attraction of new investments and the acceleration of projects, with the objective of reaching 20 initiatives for the province. The first one has already been assigned, the one promoted by Indorama with an investment of 45 million and a forecast of 285 jobs in San Roque. The program also includes the working group and the initiatives proposed to give content to the Airbus plant in Puerto Real, the support to the Next Generation fundraising or the design and implementation of the Territorial Plan of Just Transition in Cadiz, endowed with almost 70 million and which will nourish some of these eleven lines of action. The promotion of Industry 5.0, inter-sectorial training or the implementation of an inter-sectorial technology transfer platform are some of the other interventions envisaged.
