The Aerospace Industry Commission of the Confederation of Employers of Andalusia (CEA) held its constituent meeting on November 8 at the headquarters of the employers, with its president Antonio Gómez Guillamón at the head and with the participation of the president of CEA, Javier González de Lara. The general director of MyM Group and vice-president of Andalucía Aerospace, Luis Pizarro Teno, also participated.
With a large attendance of companies in the sector and institutions from different Andalusian provinces, the establishment of the Aerospace Industry Commission of CEA opens a new stage in the representation of the sector in Andalusia, which will serve as a meeting point and speaker of the demands of a strategic industry for the development of the Community. This has been stated by Gómez Guillamón, who has pointed out among the initial tasks of the Commission to agree on actions to implement the Aerospace Strategic Plan 2020-2027, approved a few months ago.
The Commission underlines its vocation to work in permanent coordination with the regional Administration and, in particular, with the Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities.
Immersed in a changing context, the Andalusian aerospace industry has among its main challenges to advance in the diversification of its activity; in internationalization; to grow in investment in R&D&I and to continue its evolution towards a sustainable footprint in the environment. With the new Commission, the regional aerospace industry will work along these lines, as well as in strengthening Andalusia’s position in aircraft manufacturing, such as the New Space, unmanned vehicles or in MRO (aircraft maintenance, repair and operations).
In his speech, Gonzalez de Lara has extolled the advisory and consultative role of the committees of the Andalusian employers, which “delve into the participation, effectiveness, efficiency in management and transparency as hallmarks that are CEA”. In this sense, the president of the Andalusian employers has highlighted the figure of Gómez Guillamón as an asset for the entire organization and its expert knowledge of its sector. “This Commission gives us the opportunity to build together messages and proposals that will benefit the entire value chain associated with the Andalusian aerospace industry,” he added.
In support of the Commission has also attended the meeting the director of Institutional Relations of Airbus Spain and advisor of Strategy of the company Jorge Domecq, guest who has known first hand this associative business initiative.
