On October 1, the School of Engineering of the University of Cadiz awarded its extraordinary end-of-degree prizes. The Extraordinary End-of-Course Prize for the Degree in Mechanical Engineering was awarded to the young engineer Guzmán Domínguez Domínguez (Cádiz, 19XX) for his work “Study of the influence of laser texturing on the tribological properties of aluminum alloy A92024”.

At the time of receiving this recognition, Guzmán had already gone from being a talented engineering student to working as head of the Surface Engineering area of the R&D&I department of the Cadiz company MyM (Mecanizados y Montajes Aeronáuticos), which specializes in the manufacture and repair of metal components for companies in the aeronautical industry such as Airbus, Boeing or Embraer.

“I am very proud of this recognition by what has been my school during these years of training that has allowed me, in the end, to start my professional career working in a reference firm in the aeronautical sector and, moreover, in Cadiz. It is the dream of any recently graduated engineer”, says Domínguez Domínguez.

For his part, Domingo Ureña, former president of Airbus Spain and now president and CEO of MyM, points out: “At MyM we have always been committed to the talent of our team, especially if it is local. Guzmán is the most recent example, but he will not be the last, because in our growth and improvement strategy, especially in the R&D&I area, we are looking for the most promising professionals to consolidate our position in Industry 4.0”.
