The IFIP 18th International Conference on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM2021), organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) in Curitiba (Brazil), was held from July 11 to 14. With the theme “Product Lifecycle Management – Green & Blue Technologies to support smart and sustainable organizations“, this event was sponsored by MyM – Mecanizados y Montajes Aeronáuticos with the participation of both its president, Domingo Ureña, and its head of Technological Development, Dr. Fernando Mas. Due to the global impact of COVID-19, the conference was held in a virtual edition. The main organizer was Prof. Dr. Osiris Canciglieri Junior.
Ureña was one of the speakers at the industrial conferences along with Regis Ataides (Siemes Digital Twin), while Dr. Mas, together with fellow University of Seville researchers Domingo Morales Palma, Manuel Oliva, Jesús Racero, Ignacio Eguía and Rebeca Arista, presented the paper “Metamodels approach suporting Models for Manufacturing (MfM) methodology“, and with the PUCPR – Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná, the paper “Towards Knowledge-Based System to Support Smart Manufacturing Processes in Aerospace Industry Based on Models for Manufacturing (MfM)“. Fernando Mas was also a member of the Steering Committee and the Scientific Committee.
The Conference was attended by 97 researchers from 22 nations in three Special Sessions (PLM Maturity, Implementation and Adoption of PLM within Industry 4.0; Sustainability, Sustainable Development and Circular Economy; and Integration of Blockchain with Business Applications) and 22 Parallel Sessions with a total of 100 online presentations. In addition, PLM2021 featured the following academic talks, industry talks and open webinars.
