The Investigation for Monitoring Assets and Managing Sustainable WIP based on AI (IMAGINA) project, in which M&M Group’s Technology and R&D team participates within the business consortium, seeks to optimize the processes of the auxiliary aeronautical industry through the efficient use of production management by integrating artificial intelligence systems and the indoor positioning of materials and assets.

This project has been subsidized by the CDTI with file number PTAP-20231004 through the call for the year 2023 of the procedure for granting aid for Strategic Sectoral Business Innovation Initiatives (“Aeronautical Technology Program”), within the framework of the Plan for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience (financed by Next Generation EU funds, including the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism) and the State Program to Catalyze Innovation and Business Leadership of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023.

IMAGINA Project Goals

Main Goals

  • Real-time monitoring of the position of inherent assets in aeronautical manufacturing processes.
  • Optimization of Work in Progress (WIP) and internal logistics in aeronautical component manufacturing processes.
  • Increase environmental sustainability in the manufacturing processes of metal products through the reduction of the carbon footprint and efficient management of materials.

Secondary Goals

  • Deployment of a distributed production management platform based on IIoT concepts.
  • The design of a robust indoor location system with minimal signal shielding.
  • Generation of a production planning decision support system based on artificial intelligence.
  • Monitoring of auxiliary materials for the implementation of efficient management.
  • Design and development of a model of the processes carried out within SMEs producers.

IMAGINA Consortium of Companies

To achieve the ambitious general and specific objectives, the consortium involves leading companies in their fields of activity, with appropriate profiles and proven experience that allows them to address the demanding technological challenges posed: SKYLIFE, the project leader, is a technology-based company focused on the development of embedded electronics and indoor positioning systems, as well as the design of custom software and digital solutions, specialized in the aeronautical sector; M&M Group, a company specialized in the manufacture of sheet metal parts for the aerospace sector, together with INESPASA, a SME specialized in offering design, development and manufacturing of aerospace tooling, precision machining of parts and assembly of substructures, will actively participate in all project activities, leading two use cases, which summarize the current needs of companies similar to them; and, finally, HI IBERIA, a company focused on the development of software solutions specialized in data analysis and development of AI algorithms to provide added knowledge that helps and optimizes decision-making.

IMAGINA Project Duration: October 2, 2023 – June 30, 2025.
