Andalucía Aerospace has celebrated, last July 10, its General Assembly at the headquarters of the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Andalusia (CEA), under the slogan “We reached 100 partners”, an event attended by Domingo Ureña, vice president of the cluster and president and CEO of M&M Group. And is that the Andalusian aerospace cluster, since it began its journey in 2018, has been growing progressively and steadily every year in number of partners, reaching already one hundred.
That is why the Assembly has served to thank the cluster’s associates, among them, the M&M – Mecanizados y Montajes Aeronáuticos group, for their commitment to the growth of the association, holding an event in which some of the companies that have been part of Andalucía Aerospace since its beginnings, such as Grupo Sevilla Control, and others that have just joined, such as Safran Electronics & Defense, have taken part. A very special event for the cluster that has been sponsored by Lamaignere and the Sebastián Almagro Foundation.
One of the novelties approved this year by the Board of Directors of Andalucía Aerospace has been to facilitate the incorporation of startups, to encourage and support the development of new companies, promoting their participation in the cluster community from their first steps.
In the words of Antonio Gómez-Guillamón, president of Andalucía Aerospace, “the incorporation of startups to the cluster reflects a reality that is taking place in Andalusia, which is the creation of new companies in the aerospace field, and that will be endorsed with the launching in September of the aerospace business incubator in Seville. Our cluster will be open to all those startups that come to join the Andalusian aerospace and defense business ecosystem”.
Inauguration by the Regional Minister of University, Research and Innovation
The opening of the Assembly was led by the Minister of University, Research and Innovation, José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, together with the Secretary General of the CEA, Luis Fernández-Palacios, and the president of Andalucía Aerospace, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón.
During his speech, the Minister highlighted the role of Andalucía Aerospace cluster as an interlocutor with the institutions of the Junta de Andalucía, with which it maintains a close collaboration: “Andalucía Aerospace is revaluing the aerospace sector, and our commitment, from the Junta de Andalucía, is to continue contributing to the development of the cluster and this industry”.
The Assembly was also attended by Colonel Carlos Maestro, Director of the Experimentation Center of El Arenosillo CEDEA – CEUS, who gave a lecture on the CEUS project and the opportunity it represents for the aerospace sector. Its official inauguration and start-up are very close to become “the largest test center for unmanned aerial systems in Europe”, as Colonel Maestro pointed out.
Andalucía Aerospace has consolidated its position as an entity representing companies in the aerospace and defense sector in Andalusia. Among its main objectives is to strengthen the positioning of companies in the national and international market, increase their competitiveness, encourage collaboration between them and networking, promote the development of R+D+i, actively contribute to the training and education of professionals in the sector and act as an institutional representative.
