The Governing Council has taken cognizance of the participation of the Junta de Andalucía in the 54th edition of the International Exhibition of Aeronautics and Space in Paris-Le Bourget (Paris Air Show), a meeting held from 19 to 25 June which brought together the major international aerospace companies, as well as auxiliary companies and subcontractors of recognized prestige, which has been attended by the ministers of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina Spain, and Industry, Mines and Energy, Jorge Paradela.

Andalusia has been one of the few regions that has had its own exhibitor at this international fair, coordinated by Andalucía Trade, which has also organized the attendance of seven companies from Seville and Cadiz in this exhibitor (Sofitec Aero, Indaero Grupo Emergy, Aerotecnic Metallic, Mecanizados y Montajes Aeronáuticos, Skylife Engineering, Umi Aeronáutica and Grupo Sevilla Control), a presence that has also been reinforced with the stand of the Andalusian Tier 1 companies, Aciturri-Alestis, Aernnova and Aertec, which demonstrates the importance and role of the region in the international aerospace industry.

The Andalusian companies have had an extensive business agenda with B2B meetings and various networking activities, with the purpose of promoting strategic, technological and commercial alliances, and identify potential partners to participate in R&D&I projects at European and international level, as well as to achieve agreements of different nature (commercial, technical cooperation, licensing, joint-venture, manufacturing, subcontracting, commercial agreements with technical assistance, etc.) and identify potential partners to participate in R&D&I projects at European and international level.

At Paris Air Show-Le Bourget, the Andalusian representatives visited the Airbus exhibition spaces of the three Andalusian Tier One companies (Alestis-Aciturri, Aernova and Aertec), as well as the European Space Agency pavilion, where they met with the ESA Director General, Josef Aschbacher. They also participated in the meeting held by the general director of the Spanish Association of Defense, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technologies (TEDAE), César Ramos, and with the president and general director of the Andalucía Aerospace cluster, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón and Juan Román, respectively, with a view to holding ADM Seville next year. In addition, they accompanied the Andalucía Aerospace cluster, which represents a sector composed of more than 140 companies and entities in the sector, in the presentation of results of this industry in 2022, a year in which Andalusian companies reached 2,356 million in turnover, representing an increase of 17% over the previous year, and accounted for 13,136 direct jobs, up 8%.

Similarly, they analyzed with Airbus management the impact and workload prospects of the tractor company in Andalusia after achieving the largest commercial contract signed in the history of Airbus with the Indian airline IndiGo, which will involve the delivery of half a thousand A320 family aircraft between 2030 and 2035. Airbus also confirmed the purchase by Air India of an order for 250 aircraft, most of them A320neo and A321neo single-aisle aircraft. All these models guarantee and reinforce the workload for its Cadiz plant in the short and medium term. In the defense sector, its plants in Seville will be reinforced with new C295 contracts.

On the other hand, the Andalusian Government announced in Paris that Andalusia is the first autonomous community to have applied for membership of the Alliance for Air Transport Sustainability (AST) to position the region in the face of one of the major challenges facing this industry, namely the decarbonization of production systems and air transport itself. This Alliance was recently formed to respond to the challenge of environmental, economic and social sustainability in aviation, and is made up of major aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing, airlines, associations and employers’ associations related to this industry, fuel operators, as well as representation from the academic world, among other agents.

ADM Seville 2024

The Ministry of Economy, Finance and European Funds, through Andalucía Trade, will organize the seventh edition of Aerospace & Defense Meetings – ADM Seville 2024, the largest business meeting of the aerospace industry held in Spain and southern Europe, which will take place between May 14 and 16 with the aim of consolidating Andalusia as a reference point in the world circuit of the sector. The event was presented at the Paris Air Show-Le Bourget by the councilor Carolina España and the president of BCI Aerospace, Stéphane Castet, a multinational company specialized in international events for the aerospace industry.

ADM Seville will be held at Fibes with the prospect of surpassing the figures of its last edition, where more than 1,250 professionals from 323 companies from 29 countries participated. Next year’s edition will address topics such as Eurodrone, cybersecurity, the main trends and challenges of the space sector, aerospace human resources and the role that Spain is playing in space programs.
