The president and CEO of M&M Group, Domingo Ureña, participated as a speaker at the AOM Senior Management Conference organized by the AOM Communication and Marketing agency in the Sala Helvetia in Seville on May 25.

Ureña, together with Luis de Torres, worldwide CEO of ClarkeModet, and María Ángeles Martín Prats, president and founder of Skylife Engineering, participated in a round table discussion entitled ‘Smart transformation: intersections of Artificial Intelligence, new leadership and business success‘.

In it, these three executives of national and international reference have shared their experience on innovation as a growth model, the role of artificial intelligence, new types of leadership, internationalization and the importance of communication and marketing, among other aspects.

Domingo Ureña pointed out that “innovation in organizations is in people, although an innovative organization has to think about being number one in its sector and transmit this internally and to the market. To achieve this, the organization has to be effective, reflect the culture of its leader and be governed by the motto never give up. You are responsible for choosing your team and responding to what they expect of you, knowing the market and attacking it”.

In this sense, he explained that “there are all kinds of leadership and I don’t find any type of leadership that is bad, whether it is a family business or a mega-company with a multitude of processes” and stressed that, “in addition to having the ability to make decisions quickly, one of the qualities of a leader is to be able to transmit downstream what your vision is and let the teams do their job. To do this, the company’s goals have to be few, communicable and easily explainable“.

In reference to data management, the head of M&M Group agreed with the other speakers that “currently the local market is not Spain, but Europe, and the projection is global. That is why companies have to be open-minded, since data does not work in the same way in all places and for all clients: data is binary, the key is to know how to interpret it in order to achieve success“.

Communication: a fundamental intangible

In the last part of the round table, Ureña, de Torres and Martín Prats gave their views on communication and business marketing. In this regard, Ureña explained that it is necessary to refer to “communication in capital letters, since you transmit what you do, it is something alive, active… Internal and external communication is the thread that transmits the mission to the team and is essential for the outside world. Together with marketing, they transmit the values of your organization, a fundamental intangible to be identified and that needs to be nurtured“.

It should be noted that the AOM Senior Management Conference brought together CEOs and senior managers from more than 40 leading national companies and institutions in their sectors, with a total turnover of more than 2,500 million euros.
