M&M Group exposes to CDTI the results of Deepest and GreenBath projects

On April 23rd took place at the facilities of M&M Group the audit and presentation of the results of the Deepest and GreenBath projects, developed by the group from Cadiz, to the responsible of the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI). Both projects are in the industrialization phase within the company itself.

José Ángel Sánchez, R&D&I Project Monitoring and Control Technician, attended on behalf of the government agency. M&M Group was represented by Dr. Fernando Mas, head of the Technology and R&D area, together with the researchers Guzmán Domínguez, head of the Surface Engineering area; Diego Gómez, head of the Metal Forming Technologies Research area, and the assistance of Marta Escanciano and María José Marente, member of the Surface Engineering area and head of Sustainability and Business Optimization, respectively.

It should be remembered that Deepest (“Development of sheet metal drawing processes by simulation”, IDI-20210358) has enabled the development of a simulator capable of predicting the behavior of various aluminum alloys during the sheet metal drawing process, minimizing trial and error operations, and also determining limiting factors for the forming process. In addition, the physical characteristics of various drawing equipment are analyzed, which allow defining the limitations of the machines’ capacity. The development of this project translates directly into savings in production costs by manufacturing products that better meet the required dimensional tolerances.

For the development of this project, the company has subcontracted the Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies (CATEC) and received funding from the Center for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) in the call for R&D Projects.

GreenBath has developed and implemented simulation and optimization technologies in the area of surface treatments. A simulator has been developed for the area that allows monitoring compliance with deadlines, detecting bottlenecks and calculating the consumption of substances and consumables. In addition, a new system for positioning parts on racks for chemical baths has been developed, allowing better use of resources and available space.

The project thus contributes to the company’s transition to the Industry 4.0 model and to the development of enabling technologies such as simulation and optimization, while acting as a starting point to achieve a digitalization of the company’s activity. In addition, it contributes to a better use of resources, streamlines production-related activities and facilitates strategic decision-making.

GreenBath (IDI-20210358) has been funded by the CDTI – Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (Center for the Development of Industrial Technology), an entity ascribed to the CDTI.
