MyM is committed to innovation and the challenges of the factory of the future. This is reflected in GreenBath (IDI-20210358), an R&D&I project whose objective is to develop and implement simulation and optimization technologies in the area of surface treatments. It is funded by the CDTI – Center for Industrial Technological Development, an entity attached to the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and co-financed by Spain’s Pluri-regional Operational Program FEDER 2014-2020.
GreenBath will develop an area simulator that will allow to monitor compliance with deadlines, detect bottlenecks and calculate consumption of substances and consumables. In addition, a new system for positioning parts on racks for chemical baths will be developed, which will allow better use of resources and available space. All this contributes to the generation of technology and knowledge that enables the optimization of processes and the improvement of the company’s overall efficiency.
The project consists of four work packages: it begins with the definition of requirements and the problem to be solved, followed by the design, development and implementation of a simulation system for the surface treatment area. Both work packages form the first milestone. The second milestone comprises the design, development and implementation of the optimization system for the placement of parts in racks for chemical baths, and the development of a demonstrator of the complete system. The racking system represents the biggest challenge in terms of innovation, as there are no similar alternatives on the market.
The GreenBath project thus contributes to the company’s transition to the Industry 4.0 model and the development of enabling technologies such as simulation and optimization, while acting as a starting point for achieving a digitalization of the company’s activity. In addition, it contributes to a better use of resources, streamlines production-related activities and facilitates strategic decision-making.
