On April 25, 2018, the first edition of the #coachExit project in the province of Cadiz, an initiative that aims to improve the employability of young people in vulnerable situations, ended in Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz. Throughout the two months that the program has lasted, a total of 23 volunteers from eight companies and institutions such as Acciona, Fundación DKV Integralia, Grupo Osborne, MyM – Mecanizados y Montajes Aeronáuticos, Northgate España, Puerto de la Bahía de Cádiz, Titania and Zambrano Procuradores have participated.
These organizations have mentored 23 young people from five social and educational entities: IES Fernando Aguilar Quignon, IES Mar de Cádiz, La Salle-Jerez, SAFA-Jerez and SAFA-El Puerto. The project, which started in the province of Cadiz thanks to the collaboration of Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is a corporate volunteer program aimed at companies and seeks to improve the labor integration of young people in vulnerable situations, working on their orientation and motivation to continue their training and improve their chances of finding a job.
According to the organization, after their participation in the project, 81% of the young people pass the course, 93% intend to continue their studies and 88% improve their self-esteem. Fundación Exit trains corporate volunteers in coaching techniques to accompany the young people during the process on a journey within the company.
The participants are between 16 and 19 years old and are referred by different social and educational entities and institutes, coming from a situation of early school dropout risk.
At the same time, companies that want to give their employees the opportunity to participate in a solidarity action collaborate. For the participants it is an opportunity to see the working world from the inside, and to be aware of what the companies in which many of them will end up working need.
