On November 25, the 1st ASPROMEC Machining Congress was held in Getafe, an exclusive meeting point for machinists, tractor companies, entities and/or associations of the metal-mechanical sector, with the participation of Luis Pizarro Teno, general manager of MyM.
The event, which brought together 150 professionals, allowed to know through the presentations that took place the current situation of the sector, as well as the keys and solutions that can help companies to meet the challenges of the new scenario created after the health crisis and the new technological challenges arising from digitization.
The congress was opened by Francisco Moreno Gil, president of Aspromec and managing director for Southern Europe and Turkey at Tebis. In his speech Moreno highlighted the active role played by the association in its 11 years of existence as a driving force in the metal-mechanical industry. In particular, he pointed out the Machining Meetings and the Observatories of the Industrial Sector held in different parts of Spain, which have allowed them to compose a detailed radiography of the sector.
For his part, Pizarro gave the conference “Mechanizing to fly”, in which he provided a global vision of commercial aircraft and helicopter manufacturers and shared market forecasts for the next decade. He also explained production models and production rates in the aerospace industry, as well as the main materials used in aerospace structures, and finally, broke down the certification requirements in the supply chain to qualify for work packages. The figures presented by Pizarro indicate growth, since by the end of this year the airlines expect to receive 1,143 new aircraft, and in 2022 there are already 1,622 aircraft scheduled, although the health situation could lead to cancellations or postponements.
The conference was followed by a round table discussion with a high level of participation from the attendees.
